Novelist Zara Heritage

Looking forward to the imminent release of my novel,
CAST ME NOT AWAY.

The publisher's art department developed three alternative book covers, each with a different emotional feel. We sent samples to several friends and others in the business. The majority seemed to like the black cover.

ONCE A GENERATION A BOOK CHANGES HOW PEOPLE THINK

Historic Facts: In 1939 a secret program, Aktion T4, was instigated by the Nazi’s designed to rid Germany of all children deemed unworthy of life. Later, it expanded to include mentally or physically handicapped adults. It is estimated that over 275,000 died under this edict and it set the stage for the extermination of millions of Jews, gypsies, Catholics and other enemies of the state.

Through it, the Nazi’s determined that death by gas chamber was more efficient and less costly than lethal injection. Hitler’s Nazi Party was horrible and cruel to millions ...

but let us not forget that it first began with the children ...

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Southern California, moved around the USA before settling permanently in Southern Oregon with its year-long moderate temperatures.

I love watching winter storms roll in over the ocean and, in better weather, enjoy hiking along pristine beaches with my husband and our dog. We're also the servants of a spoiled cat.

Though Cast Me Not Away is my first published novel, I've been a writer or journalist all my adult life. In addition to writing, I love birds and currently raise Rosy Bourke Parakeets ... quiet, sweet birds the size of Budgerigars, but very different. BOOK SYNOPSIS

Fast forward to where the future meets the past. Family size is strictly regulated everywhere. The unborn are frequently aborted and any unwanted young children are subject to be labeled useless and euthanized.

In this time of darkness, Mira Hastings and Grayson Stevens join other brave souls who stand against this mountain of evil and put their lives on the line to rescue condemned children. With courage, they publicly expose the greed and corruption driving the system. Declared enemies of the state, Mira and Gray must flee the wrath of a greedy, vengeful government. On the run they encounter danger at every turn. But, with rescued children in tow, and the aid of a network of supporters, they also encounter hope, joy … and love.
